Oor Monsters III at Junction Art, Aberdeen

Preview Evening - Friday 26th 6 - 8p.m

During the months of May and June Junction arts will become a temporary monster emporium!
Created by artists Philip Thompson and Gabrielle Reith, this will be their third venture into the world of all things monstrous and with many other special guest artists invited to take part we are very excited about what will most definitely be a very memorable and exciting show.

The Idea of the "monster show" has been left open to interpretation by the artist and maker.
Work will range from fantasy to reality ‐ utilising the very open idea of what a "monster" is. The one
parameter of the interpretation, should be "creativity" ‐ what monsters work with or against artists and makers when they create work? Be that in everyday life (a car breaking down) or those little (but oh so weighty) little critical daemons on our backs…

Artists taking part are;
Philip Thompson, Gabrielle Reith, Cosmic Nuggets, Iain Gildea, Mags Gray, Katie Guthrie, Melodie Stacey, Aubin Stewart Max Stewart and more...

Artist Philip Thompson continues to explore and question our relationship with ‘the news’ and how information gained through personal /collective experiences, social, historical and geographical contexts ultimately informs our understanding of how meaning is constructed and “opinions” are formed.

Me-idea will transform Peacock Visual Arts gallery into a sculptural experience by combining found objects with digital and documented correspondence.

Gabi and Phil are showing new work at the group show "10 Architects" in the Lemon tree.

Architects and artists unite in an inspirational exhibition at Art @ The Lemon Tree. 10 architects, members of the Aberdeen Architects Network Group, are showcasing their designs, drawings and photographs of commissioned works in an exhibition at Art @ The Lemon Tree. During the exhibition members of the public will be able to have a one to one surgery session with one of the architects to discuss ideas and possibilities of extensions, conversions or even a new house! Architects will be available at designated times to discuss your individual planning/design problems for a small fee to be donated to charity.‘lucky dipped’ an envelope and was asked to create an artwork in their desired medium in response to the image they selected. The result is a stunning, diverse exhibition of contemporary artworks and architecture that is truly inspirational.
